Young People at Holbrooks
The Young Peoples work at the Church is very exciting. Although aimed at young people aged between 11-20 we are conscious as a Church that quite often a divide between the older and younger members can occur, and with this in mind we try to integrate a strong family theme into the work, on our recent youth weekend away in Doncaster our youngest camper was 14months old and our eldest was 60 plus!!

We try to have a fun time and provide lots of happy memories for the young people that the Lord has given into our care, we enjoy going bowling together and having barbecue/volleyball nights along with the weekend which has become an annual favourite. Here we spend 3 nights together in surroundings that could be described as rustic at best and sample the delights of such places as Cleethorpes on the East coast Riviera.
We realise however, that despite all the good times and memories you can provide for people it is only the gospel of Jesus Christ that can keep them. We therefore see it as crucial that the word of God is central to all that we do, and this is reflected in our Friday night meetings. The meetings comprise usually of a few Christian songs, a time of prayer and a bible study/ sermon which is typically around 30 minutes long. We usually follow a theme such as looking at characters of the bible and how many of them point to Christ, the fruit of the Spirit and John Bunyan’s book "Pilgrims Progress". We try to relate from the Bible how we are to come to Christ and stay there. We are seeing fruit within the young people with a small number making very genuine commitments to Christ over the past year, and this has been a huge encouragement and something that we praise God for.
We usually conclude our meeting with chips and fiercely contested games such as table tennis. All are welcome to join us from senior school age and upwards every Friday during term time at 8pm.
